What are the benefits of using StemLink?
StemLink is a free to use platform that allows users to easily draft, collaborate, and share equation based docs. A cloud based platform enables you to easily save & archive your work and access your docs from anywhere. SL is the simplest way to collaborate in real-time with friends, classmates, teachers, or tutors.
Can people without a StemLink account view my shared SL docs?
Yes, documents can be shared to anyone and are viewable to people without a StemLink account. If you want to collaborate, recipients of your shared doc must have permission and a StemLink account (free) to work on the doc that is being shared.
Why share my docs on StemLink?
StemLink is a platform for users working and creating with various backgrounds and experiences. Publishing and sharing your work allows peers to give feedback, provide help, and possibly help answer any questions you are struggling with answering. StemLink allows you to keep all your docs private, share with one or many within your circle, or publish and archive to the StemLink platform for peer sharing and support.
What is StemLink?
StemLink is a digital workspace for the creation and sharing of STEM docs. As a platform, StemLink enables you to easily archive, share, or publish your SL docs for easy access and collaboration. Collaborate with classmates, educators, or tutors you know. Or access the SL community for peer review or assistance on your equation-based docs.
How is StemLink different from Google Docs?
We like to think of it this way – Google Docs is for text, and StemLink is for numbers. You wouldn't draft an essay or a text message on a calculator, so why would you solve math and equations on a Google Doc? StemLink is explicitly designed for drafting, solving, and collaborating on complex equations.
How do I use the StemLink platform?
At this time StemLink has limited integration features. Our team is working to make the SL Editor into a more modular system that can be easily integrated into other platforms. For more information, please-in-out contact us here.
In the SL editor, how do I input different information - such as text, numbers, images, graphs, etc.?
To switch between input types there is a blue “+” icon in the editor that allows you to select from a list the type of input you want to include or work with. The “+” appears when you select a line of text. Alternatively you can use the backslash “” key on your keyboard to trigger the same list selection.
How do I print a SL doc?
In editor mode, you can print any SL doc by clicking on the "print button", located on the screen's right side.
How do I download a SL doc?
We suggest sharing documents virtually but if you need to download a copy you can export any doc to a PDF by using the print button.
How do I view a SL doc shared with me?
To view any files shared with you simply go to your workspace and look for the “shared with me” section.
How do I share a SL doc I create?
To share a doc you can press the share button and then choose the permissions the recipient/shared person has over your file.
How do I make a new SL doc?
New docs are made using the “+” icon on the blue dashboard.
How do I use the SL editor?
The StemLink Editor operates just like any other text editor and relies primarily on a keyboard for input. A virtual keyboard if you are using a touch enabled device.
How do I access the SL editor?
Anyone with a StemLink account can use the SL Editor. To access the Editor, sign in with your account, and open a new or shared document to get started.
How do I use the StemLink platform?
You can use StemLink any internet connected device but the platform is primarily focused on operating on a computer or tablet. StemLink is accessible on mobile and desktop devices. However, to get the best experience while using StemLink, we suggest using a device with a screen at a minimum of 1024X768 (iPad) or larger.
How do I import text?
Currently, the primary method of importing text is typing or copying/pasting.
